In the role of the Building Automation Control Technician, you will be responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of our distributed control systems for our various local campus buildings. In addition to your strong organizational and analytical skills, your Process Logic Control (PLC) experience will be vital to your success specifically related to Schneider EcoStruxure, Siemens Apogee, Johnson Controls Metasys, and Allen Bradley,

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures on systems and/or equipment as required

  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of the Building Automation Systems (“BAS”) and Process Logic Control (“PLC”) based systems routinely as well as on an emergency basis

  • Modify instruments to improve the performance and/or function of the process

  • Use configuration software and/or other tools to troubleshoot or upgrade PLC program logic

  • Provide maintenance and repair services to support the various campus facilities

  • Perform PID loop tuning functions as needed to acquire a stable process

  • Use schematic or logic diagrams to diagnose system/equipment malfunctions

  • Be the central point of contact for customers in buildings serviced

  • Create and modify SOP's where required

  • Use configuration software and/or other tools to troubleshoot or upgrade PLC systems

  • Follow Facilities Good Engineering Practices (GEP) standards

  • Maintain, repair and install instrumentation devices including controllers, transmitters, signal conditioners and related equipment

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

  • 5+ years of instrumentation service experience

  • 3+ years of configuring and programming control panels experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills

  • Ability to travel as needed up to 10% to various UT campus facilities

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Electronics Technical Degree (A.AS.) or related field of study

  • 4+ years of pharmaceutical instrumentation controls experience

  • Experience with Schneider EcoStruxure, Siemens Apogee, Johnson Controls Metasys and Allen Bradley PLC systems and components preferred

  • Experience with AutoCAD a plus

  • Basic knowledge of cGMP and of HVAC systems and components
